本尼迪克特·安德森

本尼迪克特·理查德·奥格曼·安德森（Benedict Richard O'Gorman Anderson，1936年8月26日－2015年12月13日），生于中国昆明，是美国著名的学者，专门研究民族主义和国际关系。为康乃尔大学荣休教授。著有《想像的共同体》（Imagined Communities），提出民族是想象的共同体。

生平

安德森的父亲詹姆斯·卡鲁·奥格曼·安德森（James Carew O'Gorman Anderson）是盎格鲁爱尔兰人，母亲是英格兰人。其弟为西方马克思主义历史学家佩里·安德森。其祖母法兰西斯·安德森（Frances Anderson）来自一个长期支持爱尔兰独立运动的家庭，外曾祖父为下议院议员普赛尔·奥格曼（Purcell O'Gorman）。其祖父来自于爱尔兰沃特福德郡，其家族为苏格兰安德森家族的后裔，在1700年代移居到爱尔兰。其祖父是大英帝国武官，奉派至英国海峡殖民地槟榔屿。其父在槟榔屿出生，是中国海关总税务司中的官员。

安德森在中国昆明出生，在5岁时，其父亲带全家移民美国加州，安德森在此长大。9岁时，其父去世，安德森全家移居爱尔兰。安德森中学进入英国伊顿公学，大学就读剑桥大学，在此取得学士。研究生就读于美国康乃尔大学，在此取得博士学位。

安德森于2015年12月13日在印度尼西亚巴图过世于睡眠中。
